Bright and early on Sunday, 12 July we held a working bee to tidy up and do some maintenance on
the band hall and the surrounding grounds followed by a sausage sizzle lunch. This working bee was
a huge success with several of our members and their families all turning up to help out. It was truly
wonderful to see so many of our members and their families volunteer to give up their Sunday
morning to come down and help out.
As a result of such a good turnout the music has all been put away, the concert band music was
catalogued, indexed and put away, all the instruments owned by the band were pulled out and
catalogued with their serial numbers, old financial and administrative documents kept were sorted
out, the shed was sorted out, furniture got moved around to create more space for the growing
band, the carpets were thoroughly vacuumed, the kitchen was cleaned and a lot of rubbish was
thrown out. It really was a case of many hands make light work.
There were also quite a few of our other members who offered to come down and assist but were
unable for various reasons. I simply cannot express how thrilled I was with the response we got. It
gives me great hope that future working bees or fundraising endeavours will be equally supported
and successful.
